RwandaRwanda provides an interesting development model

 At the end of April Rwanda issued its first 10-year bond to institutional investors and received overwhelming demand for its first debt offering. Investor demand was so strong Rwanda could have issued debt amounting to half of the country’s 2012 GDP. It is unsurprising that demand was so strong; Rwanda, under the careful oversight of President Kagame, has become a reliable and trusted country and a model for development that other countries would do well to follow.

Since 2003 Rwanda has seen economic growth averaging 8% a year with subdued inflation. However, what makes Rwanda’s growth more extraordinary is that the country has some of the shakiest foundations upon which an economy can flourish and develop.
